COVID-19 UPDATES
Covid-19 Update 5/15/20
What we are doing to keep you and our team safe
We are excited to welcome you back! Our office has always utilized personal protective equipment (PPE) that exceeds the B.C. CDC guidelines, however, in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic we have been working hard to emerge from this crisis even more confident in our ability to provide safe, compassionate care.
You will see many changes, as we have new ways of scheduling your appointments and managing your insurance and financial transactions.
We understand changes can be overwhelming; especially given we are experiencing these changes throughout all aspects of our lives. With this in mind, please see below for a list of enhanced precautions and protocols we have taken to protect you. We have also created a short sequence of photos to help navigate these safety protocols. Let’s face this situation with knowledge, collaboration and a positive spirit!
1. We will be prescreening for Covid 19 upon entry to reception.
2. Maintain distancing in the reception area for essential caregivers and parents of minors if they cannot wait in a vehicle or outside the clinic.
3. Removed magazines and items that can harbor or transfer germs of any kind. Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the clinic.
4. We require a mask to be worn by ALL patients upon entering the office.
5. Installed a sneeze guard at reception area.
6. Required hand washing and hand sanitizing before all appointments by our team and by our patients.
7. Introduction of an oral pre-rinse for all patients to reduce exposure to germs.
8. WE ASK THAT PATIENTS PAY THE FULL COST OF THE DENTAL APPOINTMENT. We will continue to help our patients navigate their insurance plans and in most cases will manage the reimbursement process on their behalf.
9. Enhanced operatory disinfection procedures after all appointments with mist or fogging devices to access hard to reach places that can be easily missed.
10. New personal protection equipment like visors, gowns and masks for our team to provide barriers against the smallest of germs.
11. Reduction or elimination of airborne aerosols with high volume evacuation (HVE) during aerosol producing procedures and use of a HEPA filtration system for higher risk procedures. Please visit www.vaniman.com for more information.
12. Enhanced nightly disinfection procedures of equipment and office fixtures like computers, keyboards, telephones, chairs, doorknobs and buttons that may be touched unconsciously.
13. Disinfection of all outside mail and packages that enter the building.
14. Longer appointment times for the team to prepare and complete all the tasks and duties in the safest and most comprehensive manner.
We welcome any questions you might have and look forward to seeing you all once again!
Warmest regards,
The team at Academy Dental
