Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene or dental hygiene is all about maintaining the health of your teeth, gums, and mouth. At home, oral hygiene practices include brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day. Your dentist may have told you that brushing and flossing alone are not enough. You also need to see your dentist every 6 months for oral cleanings to remove plaque and tartar in your teeth and gums.

Dental visits for this purpose will also include a thorough inspection of your teeth, gums, and mouth to search for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and even oral cancer. X-rays may also be taken to check and see that there are no other issues concerning your teeth and gums.
